Liam Gallagher

Liam Gallagher was born and educated in Limavady, County Derry, Northern Ireland. After graduating from the Queen’s University of Belfast in 1978 with a degree in Russian, he fled the political and social unrest in Northern Ireland and joined Lloyds Bank International in London, subsequently being transferred to Brazil on a trainee contract that blossomed into a 14-year career. After a further 8 years in the Brazilian financial market, in 2004 he joined a large translation agency as International Business Manager. Although now based in São Paulo, Liam has lived, worked and travelled extensively in Minas Gerais, Bahia and Paraná, and considers the city of Belo Horizonte, in Minas Gerais, as his adopted “home”. Two years later, he moved on to found his own company and, as a freelancer, he has been providing a range of linguistic services for the last 15 years. Although now based in São Paulo, Liam has lived, worked and travelled extensively in Minas Gerais, Bahia and Paraná, and considers the city of Belo Horizonte, in Minas Gerais, as his adopted “home”. Liam has always been heavily involved with the Irish community in São Paulo, especially on the cultural scene, and having served as president of the IBNB for a two-year term, as incoming treasurer his goal is to see it become increasingly financially self-sustaining by generating alternative revenue flows from events and sponsorship.
